Chapter 2
After Veronica’s death, everything began to change.
Many political leaders supported Eferiada. They believed she was strong and intelligent.
One of the servants came to her.
“Your Majesty, what should we do with Lady Veronica’s body?” he asked.
Eferiada looked calm, but inside she was full of anger.
“Do nothing yet,” she said quietly.
At the same time, Queen Athanasia gave a cruel order.
“Cut off her head and show it to the people. Let them see what happens to traitors.”
But not everyone agreed with her.
Golin, a loyal servant, secretly went to Eferiada.
“Your Majesty, I found your father’s will,” he said.
Eferiada was surprised.
“If my father left a will, everything can change,” she said.
“I will always be on your side,” Golin added.
“You are my only loyal friend,” Eferiada said.
Eferiada was smart. She did not act too fast.
Instead of attacking Athanasia directly, she wrote a letter.
In the letter, she accused the queen of betrayal and murder.
She also wrote about a secret alliance between the queen and the high priest.
“Take this letter to the queen,” she said to Golin.
“And wait.”
When Athanasia read the letter, she was shocked.
“This is a threat,” one of her servants said.
Athanasia did not know what to do. People trusted Eferiada more.
Suddenly, another message arrived.
“Your Majesty, tomorrow the will of the pharaoh will be announced in the city,” the servant said.
Athanasia became afraid.
“We have no choice,” she said. “I will give power to Eferiada… for now.”
But this was not the end.
It was only the beginning of a bigger fight.
